CASE STUDIES
Real-World solutions for every project.
Hamilton Zoo
14/8/24NASInstalling a new public address system in New Zealand’s Hamilton Zoo presented some unique challenges – like, don’t make any noise, sudden movements, or leave your half-finished lunch on the table.
Hukanui Bible Church
20/12/23NASThe church was first built in the 1970s, which in the scheme of all things church-related in NZ makes it practically brand new. Even so, around three years ago the church Elders decided the building needed a serious renovation, improving the facilities and making the place more in tune with what houses of worship are providing their congregations in the 21st century.
EastPack
15/8/23NASEastPack is very aware that it’s mostly manual work, and with that in mind, the care and wellbeing of its 700-strong workforce at Te Puke requires a slightly different approach for providing a safe and happy workplace. Near the top of the list has always been playing background music for the workers, and with the existing system being little more than ageing boomboxes squawking from the corners of the roof, things needed a refit.
Patrons Brewery
7/8/23NASSpeaker placement and dispersion would be crucial to balanced and even sound coverage.
Pulse Energy Recreation Centre
2/9/22NASIn the large, open spaces of a community recreation centre, clarity and control were the priorities in this PA upgrade.
Mumbaiwala Restaurant
5/4/22NASNot many AV companies would have street food vendors high on the client list. Inspired by the vibe of Mumbai’s streets, Mumbaiwala presents Indian street cuisine and ambience in a comfortable sit-down setting, perfect for some background sounds.
St Patrick's Basilica, Oamaru
13/12/21NASAn historically famous building by a famous architect, incorporating a famous landmark, and built with the famed construction equivalent of crumbly fetta cheese. A project needing patience, finesse, and some really, really, long masonry drill bits.
Dunedin Cathedral
20/10/21NASNaturally, preserving the church’s marvellous interior and keeping any installed equipment as unobtrusive as possible was the highest priority. Another issue was providing that reinforced speech intelligibility when spaces like St Paul’s were designed with reflections and reverbs in mind to enhance choral performances and singing—your standard Church Reverb isn’t a new concept born of 21st century audio plugins.
North Harbour Stadium
21/9/21NASKelvin and the NAS team knew some of the history of the original install and that knowledge was put to good use in recommending the new system. “The key was to put in more speakers running at a lower level. That gave us the ability to improve intelligibility without pushing the speakers too hard. We ended up putting in more than were there originally.”
